Instrument Training

McAir Aviation offers Instrument Rating Courses for both single and multi-engine aircraft. These courses are designed to develop your knowledge, skill, and proficiency in flight with reference to instruments. So when you're ready for the next challenge, the Instrument rating has it for you. Travel with increased confidence, be it in good weather, daytime, nighttime, or in the clouds - take your flying to a higher level with an IFR ticket.

Requirements
- Private Pilot Certificate

- 50 Hours of Cross Country Flying as Pilot-in-Command

Training

  • Training for an Instrument rating will encompass attitude instrument flying, Air Traffic Control procedures and phraseology, IFR navigation and flight planning, weather, and Federal Aviation Regulations. In addition, you will learn to maneuver solely by reference to instruments, radio navigation, departure, en-route, and arrival procedures, cross country planning and procedures, IFR communications and IFR emergencies.
  • 40 hours total actual or simulated instrument training
  • 15 hours dual instruction with a CFII
  • One IFR cross-country flight of 250nm, with 3 instrument approaches at 3 different airports
  • Training for the Written Exam
